Saudi relief plane delivers aid to Pakistani refugees
June 4, 2009
A Saudi relief plane arrived yesterday at Islamabad International Airport carrying aid for refugees displaced from the Swat Valley and other parts of North-West Pakistan. Thousands of Pakistanis have been forced to flee their homes over the past month due to fighting between the Pakistani Army and militants in the area.
The Kingdom has thus far sent over 750 tons of relief supplies to dates to help alleviate the humanitarian crisis. More aid deliveries are expected in the coming days.
