King Abdullah congratulates President-elect Al-Sisi, calls for donor conference

June 3, 2014

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz today sent a cable of ‎congratulations to newly elected Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi. In his message, King Abdullah ‎expressed confidence that Al-Sisi will succeed in leading Egypt through its troubled times and called ‎for a donor conference to help Egypt through its economic crisis. The King also urged Al-Sisi to ‎open up to the opposition, encouraging him to "accept the other opinion through a national ‎dialogue with all parties whose hands have not been stained by the blood of the innocents."‎

King Abdullah cautioned President Al-Sisi of those who wish Egypt to fail.  “Let us all beware of ‎bad friends as they paint the face of bad grievance with beautiful paints and don't care except for ‎their personal interests. They are the brothers of the devil and his troops on earth.” King Abdullah ‎also urged “all brothers and friends to avoid meddling in Egypt's internal affairs," warning that ‎harming Egypt would amount to "harming Islam, Arabism and Saudi Arabia."‎
