Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal held a meeting in Doha today with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jasim bin Jabor Al-Thani and U.N.-Arab League Envoy to Syria Kofi Annan. During the session, the latest developments regarding the crisis in Syria were discussed.

Later, during an Arab Ministerial Committee on Syria, Sheikh Hamad called for a time limit to be set for Annan’s mission. Noting the continued bloodshed being committed by the Damascus regime, the Qatari Prime Minister stated, “We cannot accept the situation to continue as it is while the task of Kofi Annan is going on.” He called for the international community to put Annan’s Six-Point Plan under Chapter 7 of the U.N. Charter and expressed deep sorrow over the massacre of civilians in the Syrian town of Houla.
