The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, in his capacity as Chairman of the Higher Education Council, has approved a number of decisions adopted by the 54th session of the Higher Education Council.
King Abdullah approved payments of stipends for all medical students studying at Saudi medical schools; the establishment of the Medical Education and Cardiac Sciences sections at the Faculty of Medicine of King Saud University in Riyadh; restructuring of the College of Business Administration at King Saud University setting up of research centers and institutes at some universities.
King Abdullah also endorsed the decision to convert the Research and Consultative Center at Umm Al-Qura University into the Institute of Research and Consultative Studies and the Islamic Architecture and Planning Unit at King Faisal University in Dammam into a center. He also approved the establishment of national centers for research on talents and creativity at King Faisal University in Dammam and King Khaled University in Abha.
The Council also approved a memorandum of understanding signed by Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University and Jordan University and extended terms of the vice presidents of King Faisal University, King Saud University, Qassim University, Al-Jouf University, and King Abdulaziz University by three years.
