Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Al-Siniora laid the foundation stone for Lebanon’s Arab highway road, a project funded by the Saudi government, the Saudi Development Fund (SDF) and the OPEC Fund, during a ceremony today in Beirut. A total of $152 million was contributed for the road’s construction.
Addressing the gathering, President of Lebanese Development and Reconstruction Nabil Al-Jisr commended the Kingdom’s continuing support for Lebanon.
During his remarks, SFD Vice President Youssef Al-Bassam noted that the infrastructure project will help to link Lebanon’s Northern, Southern and Central regions, while also connecting the country to its Arab neighbors. “A third of the total aid appropriated by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to Lebanon is being provided for the construction, rehabilitation and modernization of this important sector in all regions of Lebanon,” he added.
