International experts to assist in development of coronavirus vaccine

The official spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Khalid Marghalani, has announced that specialists from an international company will soon arrive in the Kingdom to discuss the manufacture of a vaccine against coronavirus (MERS) and to support existing efforts to find a cure for the virus. In a statement, Dr. Marghalani confirmed that the Ministry has called upon the World Health Organization (WHO), along with experts from Europe, North America, East Asia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, to meet at the end of the month to discuss the latest developments regarding the disease.
During a press conference in Riyadh today, Minister of Health Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah announced that thirteen new cases of coronavirus have been reported, including seven in Jeddah, four in Riyadh, one in Madinah and one in Najran. The new diagnoses bring the total number of cases in the Kingdom up to 244. Dr. Al-Rabeeah said that the Ministry is making all efforts to contain the virus and offered assurances that Saudi Arabia is prepared for the Hajj and Umrah seasons.
