Arab Foreign Ministers hold emergency meeting

March 14, 2011

Prince Saud Al-Faisal led the Kingdom’s delegation to an emergency meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers held at the Arab League’s headquarters in Cairo on Saturday. The session, chaired by Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, was called to address the crisis in Libya and to coordinate responses. The ministers agreed that the bloodshed must stop and that the territorial integrity of Libya must be maintained. To this end, they called for the U.N. Security Council to impose a no-fly zone over Libya to end the Qaddafi government’s crimes against its own people.

The U.N. Security Council held an urgent meeting this morning to consider the Arab League’s request.
