Saudi Arabia begins to evacuate its citizens from Libya

In view of recent developments in Libya, Saudi Arabia has begun evacuating its citizens from that country, according to Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Prince Khalid bin Saud bin Khalid. A royal order was issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to dispatch a special passenger plane to evacuate Saudi and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) country citizens stranded in Libya to the Kingdom, Prince Khalid reported. The Saudi Foreign Ministry has established an operations room at the Saudi Embassy in Tripoli to coordinate the evacuation. The first plane carrying Saudi and GCC citizens, including the families of Embassy employees, arrived in Riyadh today from Tripoli.
