Prince Muqrin chairs Cabinet session

Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister, Advisor and Special Envoy of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, chaired the Cabinet's session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh this afternoon.  The Cabinet wished all success for Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz during his current visits to Pakistan, Japan, India, and the Maldives, in continuation of the approach of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah in consultations with world leaders in the interest of the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The cabinet reiterated the keenness of Saudi Arabia to continue to develop its distinguished relations with Lebanon, expressing hope that the formation of the new Lebanese government headed by Tammam Salam will advance Lebanon's stability and prosperity.  The cabinet expressed regret for the failure of the Second Geneva Conference on the Syrian crisis in achieving tangible to end the suffering of the Syrian people.  The cabinet blamed the Syrian regime for the failure of talks through its intransigence and its dislodging the conference away from its objectives according to the decisions of the First Geneva Conference.

The cabinet approved the Headquarters Agreement between Saudi Arabia and the World Assembly of Muslim Youth and the attached Protocol, signed in the city of Riyadh on 16/04/1434 H.  A royal decree has been prepared to this effect.  The cabinet also approved the statute of the Arab Union for Natural Reserves which was adapted by the Council of Arab Ministers at the ministerial level on March 10, 2012.  A royal decree has been prepared for this purpose.

Among the most prominent features of the Arab Union for Natural Reserves is to preserve biodiversity in the Arab world through the establishment of nature reserves and protected areas; to encourage the establishment of common nature reserves and increase knowledge in the management of nature reserves among members states of the Arab Union for Natural Reserves Arab Union, and with international and regional organizations; to encourage civil society organizations to establish and manage protected areas and involve them in the management of natural resources and reserves; to establish an Arab network for natural reserves to raise the level of Arab action to the level of regional and international work.

The cabinet authorized the Minister of Housing, or his deputy, to sign a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of housing between Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Korea
