Crown Prince Salman chairs Cabinet session (2/4/13)

Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz began the weekly Cabinet session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh this afternoon by welcoming Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, the newly appointed Second Deputy Prime Minister, and wishing him success.
After reviewing the latest developments in the region and the world, the Cabinet lauded the international conference hosted by Kuwait last week in which donors pledged relief funds to improve the humanitarian situation in Syria. Conversely, it condemned Israel’s attack on Syrian territory, characterizing it as a flagrant violation of sovereignty and international law.
The Cabinet welcomed Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa’s invitation to all components of Bahraini society to participate in a national dialogue. It expressed hope that this process will strengthen national unity and help maintain Bahrain’s sovereignty for the benefit and welfare of all its citizens. The ministers also welcomed the report issued by the international committee formed by the World Council for Human Rights on Israeli violations of human rights in the occupied Palestinian and Arab territories.
Then, the Cabinet discussed a number of local issues and reviewed the Kingdom’s participation in international conferences, including the 2nd session of the Saudi-Tunisian Follow-Up and Political Consultation Committee.
Addressing the issues remaining on its agenda, the Cabinet approved the amendment of Article 11 of the Officers’ Service Regulation, issued by Royal Decree No. (M/43), dated 28/8/1393 H.; approved a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Saudi Ministry of Water and Electricity and both the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in the field of water management and sanitation; approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the Saudi Ministry of Social Affairs and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to cooperate in the social and humanitarian fields; approved the amendment of the Cabinet’s Decision No. (130), dated 7/5/1429 H., on special regulations relating to offering real estate contributions; and approved a cooperation agreement with France concerning the development of peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
