Crown Prince chairs Cabinet session (2/3/14)

Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the Cabinet session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh this afternoon.  The Cabinet reviewed a number of reports on local and international events. It called on the international community to put pressure on the Syrian regime to allow the delivery of urgently needed humanitarian aid to thousands of people suffering from hunger and disease in Homs and other parts of Syria.

Domestically, the ministers praised the continuing improvement in the Kingdom’s health indicators, including a significant reduction in the rate of infant and maternal mortality and high life expectancies. Regarding the scientific world, the Cabinet welcomed the holding of the National Olympiad for Scientific Innovation last week in Tabuk. The event was organized by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation or Giftedness and Creativity, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, to spread the culture of scientific research and innovation in education. Finally, the ministers praised the Saudi students who participated in the 7th Scientific Conference in Edinburgh last Saturday.

Turning to its weekly agenda, the Cabinet approved the amendment of paragraphs (c/1) and (2) of Article (6) of the organization of the Audiovisual Information General Commission; approved the amendment of several Articles of the Competition Council; approved a number of measures regarding draft rules to enhance confidence in the rental housing market; and approved the adoption of the final account of the King Fahd Causeway Authority for fiscal year of 1433/1434 H.
