Saudi, Turkish Foreign Ministers hold joint press conference

January 13, 2011

Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal held a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Ahmet Dawood Oglu, in Ankara yesterday.

During his remarks, Prince Saud held Israel responsible for the collapse of peace negotiations, citing its intransigence and determination to continue building settlements on Palestinian land. Such failures at the negotiating table, he warned, will lead Arab countries to seek alternative ways and new policies to create an independent Palestinian state. Prince Saud called upon the world community to shoulder its responsibilities and to support Arab political will amid increasing recognition of the Palestinian state project.

During the press conference, the foreign ministers also expressed concern over Lebanese political instability and voiced support for the independence, security and territorial integrity of Iraq.
