January 12, 2009

Dr. Sa’id Al Harithi, Chief of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Relief Campaign for Palestinians in Gaza, oversaw the launching today of an overland convoy that will deliver Saudi aid to the Palestinians.

The land deliveries are the third major piece of the Saudi effort to assist the people of Gaza. The Kingdom is also running an emergency airlift to deliver relief supplies, while Medevac aircrafts are transporting the wounded to Saudi hospitals.

The first overland convoy, launched today from Riyadh, consisted of 59 trucks laden with over 760 tons of food and aid as well as 30 new ambulances.

The relief campaign will be delivering aid over the next 30 days for more than 850,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
