Minister of Defense receives U.S. Representative Eric Cantor

Minister of Defense Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz received the Majority Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Eric Cantor, and his accompanying delegation in Riyadh today. During the meeting, the two sides discussed various topics pertaining to U.S.-Saudi relations. The session was attended by Director General of the Office of the Minister of Defense Lt. General Abdulrahman Al-Bunyan and U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom James Smith.
Rep. Cantor and his delegation also met today with Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Al-Naimi. Their discussion focused on the international oil market, particularly the importance of cooperation between producing and consuming nations in order to maintain market stability. They also talked about bilateral cooperation in the oil, mining and environmental sectors, especially the promotion of joint investments.
Since arriving in the Kingdom, Rep. Cantor and his delegation have been received by a number of other officials, including Deputy Speaker of the Majlis Al-Shoura (consultative council) Dr. Mohammed Al-Jiffri; the head of the Majlis Al-Shoura’s Saudi-American Parliamentary Friendship Committee, Usamah bin Mohammed Kurdi; and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
