OIC condemns Alexandria terrorist attack

The Jeddah-based Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) today condemned the attack on the Saints Church in Alexandria, Egypt that that killed scores of innocent people and injured a number of others.

In a statement issued in Jeddah, Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu condemned the attack in the strongest terms and extended his condolences to the government and people of Egypt, in particular the families of the victims. 

Dr. Ihsanoglu stated that “this disgraceful terrorist act is in complete contradiction with the noble principles of Islam which strongly condemns such criminal act, as well as it contradicts the traditions of the Egyptian people who are known of their peaceful coexistence among the various sects throughout the long centuries where the values of tolerance, harmony and respect for others have prevailed.”

The Secretary General emphasized that the coherence of the Egyptian people will undoubtedly enable it to overcome this painful ordeal.
