GCC Parliament and Shoura Council heads conclude meeting

The third meeting of the Speakers of Parliaments and Shoura Councils of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) concluded in Kuwait City today. The Kingdom’s delegation to the two-day meeting was led by Shoura Council Speaker Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh. In their final communiqué, the participants emphasized their support for the recent actions taken by Saudi Arabia to protect its borders, stressing that the Kingdom’s security and stability are an integral part of the security and stability of the GCC countries. The statement also addressed the meeting’s other agenda items, including the approval of regulatory guidelines for a parliamentary and foreign relations coordination committee; the review of a memo on the GCC Secretariat’s 2009 activities; a report by Oman on its presidency over the previous session; and other developments of common concern.
