Saudis begin voting in municipal elections

More than a million Saudis are expected to go to 752 polling stations across Kingdom today to cast ballots for municipal elections. The voters will choose from over 5,000 candidates competing for 1,056 seats in 285 municipal councils. Voting began at 8am this morning and will last for nine hours. After inspecting two polling centers this morning, Riyadh Mayor Prince Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf, who serves as chairman of Riyadh’s Local Committee for Municipal Elections, said in a statement that the polling process was going smoothly.
