King Abdullah returns to the Kingdom from Morocco

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz arrived in Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah this evening coming from Casablanca following a private vacation in Morocco. At Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport, the King was received by Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz.
Immediately after his arrival, King Abdullah paid a visit to the Prophet’s Mosque, where he patronized a ceremony to lay the foundation stone of the Project of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to Expand the Prophet’s Mosque. The King viewed two replicas of the planned project and received a briefing on it from Minister of Finance Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf.
Addressing the King in a speech, General President of the Affairs of the Holy Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais said, “Today, you are laying the foundation stone of the largest expansion in the history of the Prophet’s Mosque during your prosperous era . . . The current expansion will be implemented in three phases. The construction area will be about one million square meters, and the accommodation capacity of the mosque after the expansion will be up to 1.6 million worshippers.”
Then, King Abdullah laid the foundation stone marking the beginning of the implementation of the expansion.
