King Abdullah International Foundation for Charity established

A royal order was issued today establishing the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud International Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Deeds. The announcement was made by Prince Khalid bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the new Deputy President of the Foundation’s Council of Trustees.
According to Prince Khalid, the Foundation’s goals include the construction of and support for mosques and Islamic centers; the encouragement of interfaith and inter-civilizational dialogue; the promotion of moderation, tolerance, peace, values and ethics; the reconciliation of Islamic sects; and the renunciation of violence and crime.
The Foundation also aims to spread Arab and Islamic culture, he added, through the teaching and publishing of the Islamic Sharia; the establishment of educational institutions, research chairs and treatment centers; the organization of courses and forums; the encouragement of translation to and from Arabic; cooperation with other institutions and researchers; and the provision of relief services and aid.
In addition, an international award, entitled “The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud International Prize,” will be given out in fields relevant to the goals of the Foundation.
