King Abdullah chairs weekly Cabinet session

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at Huwaiyyah Palace in Taif today.

King Abdullah briefed the cabinet on his recent meetings, including his meeting with Palestinian President Mahoud Abbas. The cabinet called on the Palestinian people to set aside their difference for the interest of the Palestinian nation and to work together for the success of the efforts by Egypt to launch dialogue among the Palestinian factions.

The Cabinet denounced the terrorist bombings which occurred in many sisterly countries and targeted the innocent, stressing that suppressing and confronting these acts and their perpetrators require a unified and collective international effort.

Turning to domestic issues, King Abdullah ordered the speedy implementation of proposed solutions to the Kingdom’s water shortages. King Abdullah also stressed the need to conserve and preserve this “precious resource.”

The Cabinet approved an amendment to Article 27 of the system of service officers issued by Royal Decree on 28/8/1393H relating to the selection and promotion of officers to the rank of lieutenant general; approved the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Madagascar with a representative (non-resident ambassador) and authorized the Minister of Foreign Affairs, or his deputy, to sign the protocol; approved four appointments: Ahmed bin Hammad bin Salim Al-Balawi as Administrative Advisor at the Ministry of Finance (rank 14), Dr. Abdullah bin Saad bin Mohammed Al-Ghamdi as Director General of Information Center at the Ministry of Health (rank 14), Ibrahim bin Ali bin Mohammed Al-Wadi as Assistant Undersecretary for School Affairs for Boys Education at the Ministry of Education (rank 14).
