King Abdullah patronizes foundation stone laying ceremony at Grand Mosque

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz patronized the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new expansion of the Holy Mosque in Makkah yesterday. Upon his arrival at the venue, the King was shown a replica of the expansion project and received a briefing from Minister of Finance Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf. After laying the foundation stone, King Abdullah inaugurated a number of other developmental projects at the holy sites. They included the expansion of the Masaa (passage between Safa Mount and Marwa Mount), the Development Project of the Yards of the Prophet’s Mosque of Madinah; the Al-Mashaer Train and Jamarat Bridge Projects; the King Abdulaziz Endowment Project; and the Makkah Watch Project.

The ceremony was attended by President of the Allegiance-Pledge Commission Prince Meshal bin Abdulaziz; Vice Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz; Prince Meteb bin Abdulaziz; Prince Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Abdulaziz; Second Deputy Prime Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz; Prince Abdullah bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz; Advisor to the King Prince Abdulilah bin Abdulaziz; Prince Faisal bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Kabeer; President of General Intelligence Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz; the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom and President of the Council of Senior Scholars Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Asheikh; the Speaker of Majlis Al-Shoura Abdullah Al-Asheikh; and ambassadors from Muslim countries.
