Governor of Makkah washes holy Kaaba

On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Makkah Governor Prince Khalid Al-Faisal washed the holy Kaaba today, in advance of this year’s Hajj pilgrimage. The cleansing was performed with Zamzam water mixed with rose perfume. Other participants in the ritual included General President for the Grand Holy Mosque and the Prophet’s Holy Mosque Affairs Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais; Vice General President for the Grand Holy Mosque Affairs Sheikh Mohammed Al-Khuzayyem; Mayor of Makkah Dr. Osama Al-Bar; a number of ministers; and members of the Islamic diplomatic corps accredited to the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, Madinah Governor Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz announced today the establishment of a city for receiving and dispatching pilgrims. The location will be built on an area of more than 1.6 million square meters near the Prophet’s Mosque. The massive project will include the construction of a transport station, a train, a 400-bed hospital, and hotels and shelters able to accommodate up to 200,000 pilgrims.
