Foreign Minister receives delegation of U.S. mayors

Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal received in Riyadh today a delegation of U.S. mayors in the Kingdom for a week-long visit. The delegation, led by Mayor Phil Gordon of Phoenix, includes the mayors of ten U.S. cities. During the meeting, Prince Saud and the American officials discussed ways of strengthening Saudi-U.S. cooperation in a range of fields.
The delegation also met Sunday with Acting Riyadh Governor Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz, Riyadh Mayor Prince Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, and Shoura Council Chairman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sheikh. They mayors were received yesterday by Deputy Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs Prince Mansour bin Abdulaziz.
The delegation’s trip was organized by the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington in cooperation with the U.S. Conference of Mayors. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen Saudi-U.S. economic ties and to help American leaders better understand the politics and culture of a key ally in the Middle East.
