IIRO undertakes several drinking water and irrigation projects in Somalia

The Jeddah-based International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO), an affiliate of the Muslim World League (MWL), is implementing several new drinking water and irrigation projects in areas of northern Somalia affected by drought and desertification. IIRO Acting Secretary General Ihssan bin Saleh Al-Tayib reports that the projects include digging about 90 wells and equipping them with pumps, tanks and generators, as well as constructing several dams.
