Evidence directly links espionage suspects to Iranian intelligence agencies

Following up on the March 19 announcement of the arrest of sixteen Saudis on espionage charges, a security spokesman for the Interior Ministry has said that an initial investigation has uncovered direct linkages between the suspects and Iranian intelligence agencies. Based on material evidence and confessions, the defendants are believed to have received money in exchange for providing information and documents on vital locations and installations inside the Kingdom. According to the spokesman, the investigation is ongoing and legal procedures will go forward against the sixteen Saudis, in addition to one Iranian and one Lebanese national.
