March 23, 2009

The U.N. World Food Program expressed its gratitude today to the Campaign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for the Relief of Palestinian People in Gaza for its generous contribution to Palestinian relief efforts.

A statement released by the agency noted that the total contribution of the Saudi campaign has reached $8 million. It added that the World Food Program intends to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Campaign to implement several projects.

Last year, Saudi Arabia donated more than $500 million to WFP, placing the Kingdom at the forefront of global efforts to address the impact of soaring food prices.
