The Jeddah-based International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO) has distributed a variety of aid to Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan. The assistance, which includes health, social and educational services, has benefited 3,603,788 people.
IIRO Acting Secretary General Ihsan Saleh Tayibb said that, among the initiatives, the organization has provided many of the hospitals and pharmacies in Lebanon with medicines and medical supplies -- including artificial limbs for the wounded -- that have benefited about 1,241 refugees. Furthermore, the IIRO distributed 30,000 food baskets and large quantities of milk, paid the rents for a number of housing units and established two reception centers for refugees in Lebanon. In Jordan, the IIRO recently distributed 45 containers of food, clothing, and blankets.
