Saudi Arabia donates $1 million to UN Human Rights Commission

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has donated $1 million to the UN High Commission for Human Rights, in continuation of its voluntary support of United Nations organizations. The contribution was announced at a meeting between the President of the Saudi Human Rights Council, Dr. Bandar Al-Aiban, and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay in Geneva. During their talks, the two sides discussed UN-Saudi cooperation. Dr. Al-Aiban reiterated the Kingdom’s support for the High Commission for Human Rights, noting its strenuous efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people. For her part, Pillay expressed deep thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for his supportive positions towards human rights issues.
