Syrian President receives Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal met with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in Damascus today. The discussion focused on the status of the Arab world and the challenges and divisions it faces, according to Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).


President Al-Assad maintained that Arabs must manage differences amicably and present a united front when it comes to protecting Arab rights and interests. He encouraged Arab cooperation specifically in Palestine and Iraq.

Prince Saud conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and extended the King’s invitation to President Bashar to visit Saudi Arabia.

The meeting was also attended by Saudi Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations Dr. Khaled Al Jindan; Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Al-Moallem; Political and Information Advisor with the Syrian Presidency Dr. Buthayna Shaaban; and Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Faisal Meqdad.
