Crown Prince chairs Cabinet session (1/13/14)

Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the Cabinet session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh this afternoon. The Council listened to reports on a number of regional and international developments. It was briefed on Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal’s visit to Pakistan and confirmed the strong ties and broad cooperation the Kingdom enjoys with that country.
The Cabinet also reviewed the outcome of the Friends of Syria meeting held over the weekend in Paris. It renewed its call for the international community to assist the Syrian people to achieve self-determination and protect themselves against a tyrannical regime through the implementation of a genuine political transition process. The ministers welcomed the announcement of Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah that Kuwait will host a second international conference for donors to support Syria this Wednesday.
Finally, the Cabinet reaffirmed the Kingdom’s firm stance on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. It stressed the importance of advancing talks and establishing a just and comprehensive peace that enables the Palestinians to establish an independent state with Al-Quds [Jerusalem] as its capital. It denounced the Israeli decision to build 1,400 new housing units in the occupied territory of the West Bank, warning that such a move will undermine the entire peace process.
Turning to its remaining agenda items, the Cabinet approved a number of arrangements regarding financial and administrative support for the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities; cancelled the license for the establishment of the optical communications company approved by the Royal Decree No. (M/4); approved the reformation of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Stock Exchange Company (Tadawul); and approved the reformation of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Credit and Saving Bank.
The Cabinet approved the appointments of Nassir Al-Abdullah as Principality Undersecretary at the Riyadh Principality (15th rank); Dhirar Al-Qaseer as Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mohammed Al-Awlaqee as Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Fahad Al-Mnaif as Director General of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Finance (14th rank); Saud Al-Rashid as Assistant Undersecretary for Studies at the Ministry of Civil Service (14th rank); and Mashhour Al-Manaee as Assistant Undersecretary for Service Affairs at the General Presidency of the Grand Mosque and Prophet’s Mosques Affairs (14th rank); and Dr. Abdullah Al-Abdullatif as President of the Supreme Commission for the Settlement of Labor Disputes.
