OIC appeals for aid to flood-stricken Indonesia

The Jeddah-based Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) has issued an appeal for aid to Indonesia, which is currently suffering from severe flooding.

In a statement today, OIC Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said that flooding in Jakarta is a natural disaster that has caused 25 deaths and rendered more than 300,000 people homeless. It has disrupted electricity services, water and food supplies as well as public transportation, he noted.

Ihsanoglu appealed to international and Islamic humanitarian organizations to provide aid to Indonesia.
