King Abdullah meets with Palestinian leaders

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz met with Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyah and Khalid Mishaal, the head of Hamas’ political bureau, in Jeddah today. Haniyah and Mishaal are in the Kingdom in order to attend an urgent meeting of Palestinian leaders in Makkah, hosted by King Abdullah.

During the meeting, King Abdullah said that the Palestinian issue is one close to the hearts of Arabs and Muslims, and the entire Muslim nation is awaiting a resolution to the internal Palestinian discord. The King also expressed his hope that the Makkah meeting would bring about Palestinian unity, and noted that ongoing disagreement depletes resources and destroys the achievements of the Palestinian struggle.

Earlier today, King Abdullah also met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
