King Abdulaziz University launches Kingdom’s first distance education program

King Abdulaziz University yesterday launched its Distance Education Program, the first in the Kingdom, reported Arab News today.  Dr. Tariq Fouad Hamdi, dean of the Faculty for Distance Education at King Abdulaziz University, expected about 10,000 students in its first academic year (2007-2008).  The faculty is currently in the process of developing a digital library and virtual classrooms.

Dr. Hamdi also told Arab News that they plan to launch an educational channel in support of the program.  The university is targeting high school graduates who failed to gain admission at universities.
