Foreign Minister attends Quartet meeting on the Arab Peace Initiative

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal attended a meeting of the Quartet and the Arab League committee charged with promoting the Arab Peace Initiative today. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the conference of Iraq’s neighbors in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

Also present at the meeting were Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov , EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa, and the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Qatar.

In related news, Prince Saud also met separately with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana to discuss issues related to Iraq’s reconstruction as well as reactivating the Arab Peace Initiative.
