King begins tour of northern provinces with visit to Arar

  King Abdullah arrives in Arar

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz arrived in Arar today. It is the first stop in a visit of the Kingdom’s northern provinces that also includes Al-Jouf and Tabuk.

During the tour, King Abdullah will launch a number of major development projects, including healthcare facilities, schools, universities, water and electric projects and a causeway linking Saudi Arabia with Egypt.

The King’s tour of the northern provinces was scheduled to begin on Saturday, but was postponed due to the death of Makkah Governor Prince Abdulmajeed bin Abdulaziz.

On May 4, a royal order granted amnesty to more than 11,000 prisoners serving jail sentences for committing petty crimes in various parts of the Kingdom as a result of the upcoming visit.

Last year, King Abdullah paid similar visits to Jubail, Al-Khobar, Qateef, Ahsa, Hail, Qassim, Madinah, Najran, Asir and Jizan.
