The Saudi-UAE Economic Forum began last night at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh. The forum, which is attended by officials and businessmen from both countries, aims to strengthen relations between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

In remarks at the forum, Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. Hashim Yamani said that the UAE is one of the largest investors in Saudi Arabia, with 114 projects worth $5.8 billion [SR22 billion] in 2006. As many as 1,329 foreign and joint projects with a capital of $67.5 billion [SR253 billion] were licensed in 2006, he noted.
