Saudi Arabia has been elected to a permanent seat on the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Executive Council.
The Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the WMO, Dr. Samir Bukhari, made the announcement today. The elections for 27 slots on the Executive Council were held today as part of the 15th World Meteorological Congress in Geneva.
Established in 1950, the WMO is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN). It is the voice of the UN on the state of the Earth’s atmosphere, its interaction with the oceans, the climate and the resulting distribution of water resources.
