The Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL) today released a statement expressing grief and sorrow over recent developments in the Palestinian territories.

In the statement, Secretary-General Abdullah Al-Turki said that Palestinian infighting will never benefit the Palestinian people and their cause. He noted that the MWL was following events in Palestine with great concern, and expressed regret at the Palestinian failure to adhere to the Makkah Agreement.

The secretary-general also called on the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the Arab League and the governments of Muslim countries to address the deteriorating situation in the Palestinian territories.
