King Abdullah meets with French president in Paris

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz met with French President Nicolas Sarkozy at the Elysée Palace in Paris today. King Abdullah is currently in France for an official visit.

The Saudi-French talks focused on major regional and international issues, particularly Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon and counterterrorism. King Abdullah and Sarkozy also held a closed-door meeting before attending a luncheon hosted by the French president in honor of King Abdullah.

The King arrived in France yesterday, the second stop on a five-nation tour that began with a visit to Spain and will also include Poland, Egypt and Jordan.  He last visited France in 2005 while still Crown Prince.

Accompanying the King on his tour is Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal, who met with French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner in Paris today for talks about issues including Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine, Iran’s nuclear program and international counterterrorism efforts.
