King Abdullah washes the Holy Ka’abah

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz washed the Holy Ka’abah in Makkah last night in preparation for this year’s Hajj.

During the traditional ceremony, King Abdullah circumambulated the Ka’abah, a ritual known as tawaf, and performed the two short prayers (rakaat) of the tawaf. The King then washed the Ka’abah with Zamzam water mixed with rosewater.

Also participating in the washing ceremony were visiting Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov, royal princes, high-ranking officials, the Cameroonian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohamadou Lebarang (who also serves as acting dean of the diplomatic corps) as well as a select group of Saudi citizens.
