Foreign Minister in Khartoum for Arab Summit

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal is in Khartoum, Sudan for the 18th Arab Summit which began today. Prince Saud is leading the Saudi delegation, which also includes Minister of Labor Dr Ghazi Al-Qusaibi, Minister of Finance Dr Ibrahim Al-Assaf and Minister of Culture and Information Iyad Madani.

In remarks after the opening of the summit, Prince Saud said that international pressure on Sudan regarding Darfur and the south is aggravating the situation. He said that parties were showing a strong desire for a peaceful resolution of the situation in Darfur, noting that warring tribes have reportedly reached an arrangement.

What is needed now is patience and wisdom, not pressure on the Sudanese government, Prince Saud said.

Prince Saud also noted that the issue of an Arab justice court would be discussed during the summit.
