Minister of Interior Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz has approved new regulations for transport vehicles used to carry pilgrims for this year’s Hajj.
According to the new rules, all small vehicles with Saudi license plates and a capacity of fewer than nine seats driven by individuals in ihram dress will not be allowed to enter Makkah for the duration of the Hajj.
All vehicles registered outside Saudi Arabia and with fewer than nine seats will be prevented from entering Makkah. In addition, all small vehicles with a capacity of fewer than 9 seats will be barred from entering the holy sites during the Hajj period.
Specialized vehicles used for medical purposes that are not licensed by the Health Ministry will also not be allowed to enter the holy sites. Buses with a capacity of 16 or more seats will be subject to a technical inspection, except for buses coming from abroad and used for the transportation of pilgrims.
