Kingdom provides emergency aid to Indonesia after deadly quake

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has extended $5 million in urgent financial assistance to Indonesia following yesterday’s devastating earthquake in Java.

The Kingdom will also provide food aid, medical supplies, tents and blankets to the quake victims. The aid will be airlifted to Indonesia by the Saudi Air Force in coordination with the Saudi Red Crescent Society.

The quake, which measured 6.3 on the Richter scale, struck early Saturday, killing more than 3,700.  The affected area covers hundreds of square miles of mostly farming communities in Yogyakarta Province.
