Saudi authorities have released 11 former Guantanamo detainees after they completed their jail sentences, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement today.
The 11 men were among a group of 28 detainees who were repatriated to the Kingdom by US authorities this year. The cases of the remaining 17 detainees are still under review, the Ministry said.
On December 14, 16 additional former Guantanamo detainees were returned to the Kingdom. Minister of Interior Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz said that efforts remain ongoing to repatriate the remaining detainees.
