Prince Saud meets with French Foreign Minister for talks on Lebanon

  Prince Saud Al-Faisal

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal met yesterday with French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy. Prince Saud is accompanying Crown Prince Sultan on a three-day official visit to France.

In remarks after the meeting, Prince Saud condemned Israel’s policy of arrogance towards its Arab neighbors. He underscored the importance of enabling the Lebanese government to spread its authority throughout the country, and called for economic and political support for Lebanon in all areas.

“We are friends of Lebanon and we cooperate with it,” Prince Saud said. He added that Arab countries and the Arab League are engaged in contact with the Lebanese government.

The Saudi foreign minister said that Saudi Arabia and France share identical views on Middle East-related issues. He said that the Saudi delegation came to France, which currently chairs the UN Security Council, to discuss the situation in Lebanon, and that the Kingdom will send delegations to the permanent members of the council with the same purpose.
