Foreign Minister calls for immediate cease-fire in Lebanon

  Prince Saud Al-Faisal

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal addressed the crisis in Lebanon in his regular press briefing today.

In a statement, Prince Saud said that the current international efforts to deal with the crisis in Lebanon have not achieved their goal, and called for an immediate cease-fire.

In the Q&A session, Prince Saud said that he hopes the United States will change its position and support an immediate cease-fire in Lebanon. He also said that he hopes the US will adhere to its principles in the case of Lebanon, as it is a democratic state suffering from unjustified, inhuman attacks.

The fate of the Middle East will be decided by its people, not others, he said, and called for a unified Arab position on the crisis.

Prince Saud also said that he hopes that the US would deter any Israeli intentions to involve Syria in the conflict.
