King Abdullah approves education programs

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has approved a number of decisions made earlier by the Higher Education Council, including naming a government scholarship program to the US and Asian nations “The Program of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for Foreign Scholarship.”

The program provides 15,000 scholarships at all levels in the US and 3,000 in Asian nations. They are for scientific specializations required by the labor market, especially medicine, engineering, computer science, mathematics and physics.

The King also approved the establishment of the private Prince Muhammad University in Al-Khobar. The university, which is based on the American model for academic programs and administrative organization, is named after Eastern Province Governor Prince Muhammad bin Fahd who donated the land and the cost of the engineering college.  PMU will offer degrees in business administration, engineering, information technology and interior design.
