Expansion work on the King Abdul Aziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah will start within nine months, Prince Fahd bin Abdullah, Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation for Civil Aviation Affairs said today, Arab News reported in its Wednesday edition.

The multibillion dollar expansion would include the construction of two new terminals and the renovation of the existing South Terminal. The expansion would increasing the airport’s annual capacity to 21 million passengers per year and accommodate the twin-decker 555-passenger Airbus A380, the largest passenger aircraft in the world.
