Saudi telethon raises more than $15 million for tsunami victims in Asia

A telethon to raise funds for orphans and other victims of the 2004 tsunami in southeast Asia raised more than $15.2 million [SR 56,832,683] last night. The telethon was broadcast on Saudi TV’s Channel 1.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz donated $2.7 million [SR 10 million] to the campaign, while Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz donated $1.3 million [SR 5 million].

Cash donations will continue to be accepted both inside the Kingdom and abroad via the National Commercial Bank.
