A statement read by GCC Secretary-General Abdulrahman bin Hamad al-Attiyah said the ministers stressed their countries’ renunciations of the dangerous and destructive phenomenon of terrorism in all its forms. The ministers decided to create a permanent committee to combat terrorism, requesting that all relevant matters be referred to that committee.
The ministers also expressed their concern and fear of the nuclear program in Iran, which lies on their doorstep. They called for peaceful nuclear programs and full cooperation with the IAEA in dealing with this issue.
On Iraq, the ministers affirmed the necessity of restoring security and stability through cooperation with the Iraqi people. They welcomed the Makkah document recently signed by Iraqi officials.
On Palestine, the ministers condemned Israel’s brutal massacres of the Palestinian people.
